The Mike Evans jersey is a hot sell among Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans and for good reason: he has been the single most constant player on the team since being drafted in 2014.

Evans has been to two Pro Bowls, was named a second team All-Pro in 2016, and made the all-rookie team in 2014.

With 395 career receptions and counting, Evans looks to continue his dominance as part of the Bucs’ offense.

High School Career

Evans attended Ball High School in Galveston, Texas and didn’t play football until his senior year of high school. During his lone high school season, he earned second team All-District honors after accumulating 25 receptions and 7 receiving touchdowns.


College Career


Evans committed to Texas A&M, playing receiver for the Aggies between 2011 and 2013.

During his redshirt freshman season, Evans collected 82 receptions for 1,105 yards and five touchdowns in 2012, receiving All-SEC honors for his performance.

In 2013, Evans set the school record by recording 279 receiving yards in a single game against Alabama and broke his own record later in the year against Auburn with 287 receiving yards.

Overall, Evans had 69 receptions, 1,394 yards, and 12 touchdowns during his redshirt sophomore season.

His honors in 2013 included first team All-SEC, as well as first team honors to the AP All-American Team.

He decided to forgo his junior season and entered the 2014 NFL Draft.

NFL Career

Evans was the seventh overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft and became an immediate impact for the Bucs.

As a rookie, he recorded 68 receptions for 1,051 yards and 12 touchdowns.

His rookie accolades included:

*Recording three consecutive games with 100 receiving yards or more with at least one receiving touchdown, the first rookie receiver to do so since Randy Moss in 1998.

*He became the youngest player in NFL history to collect 200 or more receiving yards in a single game.

*He was the first rookie since Anquan Boldin back in 2003 to record 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a single game.

*He ranked fourth in receiving touchdowns, setting the franchise record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season.

In 2015, Evans ranked 11th in receiving yards with 1,206. He only scored three touchdowns, but averaged 16.3 yards per catch, with 74.

In 2016, Evans’ numbers improved 96 receptions, 1,321 yards, and 12 touchdowns. He made his first Pro Bowl and became the fourth player in NFL history to open up his career with 1,000 or more receiving yards in his first three seasons.

Evans amassed 71 receptions for 1,001 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2017, missing one game due to suspension after fighting with Saints rookie Marshon Lattimore. Evans wasn’t ejected, but the NFL later suspended him for his actions.

In 2018, Evans became the first receiver in Buccaneers history to be selected to multiple Pro Bowls. He put up breathtaking numbers, with 17.7 yards per catch on 86 receptions, finishing the season with 1,524 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns.

Further Accolades

Evans set the NFL record for being the youngest player to reach 6,000 receiving yards as well as being the youngest player in NFL history with 200 or more receiving yards in a game.

He’s also set Buccaneers franchise records with the most consecutive games of at least one touchdown reception with 4.

Other records include:

*most games of 100 or more receiving yards in a career with 21,

*most receiving yards per game in a career with 80.3,

*most consecutive 1,000 yard receiving seasons with 5,

*most seasons of 1,000 or more receiving yards with 5,

*most career receiving touchdowns with 40,

*most receiving yards in a career with 6,103, and

*most receiving yards in a season with 1,524.
